What counts as a captioned hour

What is counted

Every finished sentence a room produces carries the stretch of audio it came from. Those stretches are added up. That total, rounded to the nearest second, is your captioned time.

Two rooms captioning at the same time for one hour is two captioned hours. That is what the word room-hour means here: the meter runs per room, not per meeting.

What is not counted

• Silence. The gaps between sentences are not billed, so a room that is switched on and quiet costs nothing.
• Translation. Every reading language you turn on is included, always.
• Readers. One phone or four hundred, the price is the same.
• The room display screen, and the transcripts you download afterwards.
• The same audio twice. If a laptop drops its connection and sends its words again when it comes back, that stretch is counted once.

Your free hours, and what a day costs

A new account starts with 3 captioned hours free and no card. When they run out, captioning stops until a plan is chosen, and every screen that can tell you says so rather than going quiet.

After that there are three published prices, with no minimum and no expiry:

• Pay as you go. $59.00 per captioned hour. Nothing monthly.
• Team. $349 a month, which includes 8 captioned hours, then $49.00 an hour.
• Pro. $1,199 a month, which includes 30 captioned hours, then $45.00 an hour.
• Summaries. $9.00 for each captioned hour a meeting has Summaries turned on, on every plan. There is no included block, so it is charged from the first hour, and it is free while you are on the trial.

Working out a meeting in advance

Count rooms, then hours, then days. One room captioning for an eight hour day is eight captioned hours. Three rooms for three days at six hours a day is fifty four. If half the sessions in a room are breaks and lunch, the real figure lands lower than that, because silence is free.

Three ways to spend less

In the meeting's Settings, under When to caption, you choose how each room decides to start:

• Always. The room captions whenever its laptop is running. Simple, and the most expensive.
• Manual. Nothing is captioned until somebody presses Start, either here or in the room's own Frasiey menu.
• Hours. Captions between the two times you give, on the meeting's dates, read in the city the meeting is held in.
• Follow the schedule. Once you have imported a schedule, each room captions only its own sessions, and you can switch off any session you do not want captioned.

Hours reads the clock of the city your meeting is held in, so the meeting's Edit form, beside its name, asks you for that city. Search for it by name and pick it from the list, and put the state or the country after the name when it is a common one, so Raleigh, North Carolina and Springfield, Illinois both find the right place. The meeting's times are then read in that city's time, everywhere they appear, for you and for everyone reading along.

Follow the schedule needs a current Frasiey app in the room. If a room's app is out of date, Settings says that room needs a Frasiey update before it can follow the schedule. Update it, or that room will caption all day.

Where to watch the number

The meeting's Dashboard shows the hours that meeting has used. The account's Billing page shows the month so far and what it adds up to. The figure on the Billing page is our own arithmetic and is labelled as an estimate; the invoice is the final word.
