Search, times and saved lines

Every attendee can search what has been said in a room, show the time each line was said, and save the lines worth keeping. None of it needs an app or an account, and nothing an attendee types into search or saves is sent to us.

Search

The round magnifier at the bottom left of the captions opens a search bar. Type a word and every place it was said is marked, and the count says how many, as in 5 matches. The captions stay where they are until you tap an arrow, or the search key on the keyboard, to jump to one, and then the count says where you are, as in 2 of 5. Search looks back through the session, not only what is on the screen, so a phone that joined late can still find the moment somebody read out a room number. In a very long session, such as a room captioning all day, it looks through the most recent part of it, not all the way back to the start. It searches in the language the phone is reading.

Close the bar and the captions go straight back to live. The search itself happens on the phone: the words somebody types are never sent to us.

Show times

In the reading options, the capsule at the bottom of the captions, Show times puts the time each line was said beside it, like 9:04 AM. The times are in the meeting's own time zone, the same clock as your schedule, so a note that says 9:04 AM matches the session list in your attendees' hands even when their phone is set to somewhere else. The line still being spoken gets its time once it is finished.

Saved lines

Tap any finished line, then tap Save. To take it back, tap the line again, then tap Remove from saved. A small ribbon marks a saved line while it is on screen. Saved lines wait in the Saved tab, beside the Summary, grouped by session and day, each with its time. From there somebody can copy them all, share them to another app on their phone, remove one, or remove all of them. When a meeting has Summaries off, a Saved button appears at the top of the captions instead, as soon as a line has been saved.

Saved lines stay on that phone, in that browser, and are never sent to us. A phone keeps up to 500 of them for a meeting. Clearing the browser or changing phones loses them, so anything worth keeping is worth copying somewhere.

If you hide a line or delete a room's captions, a phone that saved one of those lines drops it too, the next time it reads that room, while the session the line came from is still on there. A line saved from an earlier session stays on the phone until the attendee removes it. See Delete a room's captions.

With only a phone All of this happens on a phone, because it is the attendee's side of Frasiey. The quickest way to learn it is to scan your own sign and try each one.

What to do next

To let people catch up as well as search, read Summaries for attendees.
